Royal Vienna appraisals
Term "Royal Vienna" refers to a style of porcelain painting that became very popular during late
19th and early 20th century. There was no single manufacturer called Royal Vienna. Instead,
there were dozens of big and small porcelain decorators though out Germany and Austria who
produced some magnificent portrait plates and vases that are very collectible today.
Royal Vienna portraits were hand painted copies of oil on canvas paintings by such artists as
Joseph Karl Stieler, Angelo Asti and Jean-Baptiste Greuze.

If you ever attempted to sell an expensive Royal Vienna plate on eBay, then you know very
well that there is simply no market for high-end antiques there. There is only a handful of
buyers willing to spend more than a $1,000, most of whom are dealers looking for a bargain.
Sotheby's and Christie's are hardly a better alternative, since you must wait for a long time to
get your piece listed there and then collect your money. And that's after paying a high fee!
